The Museum of Coastal Carolina in Ocean Isle Beach has an astronomy resource that you need to check out – Ingram Planetarium. This summer the planetarium has some fantastic events for the whole family. Read on to get the scoop from our friends at MCC.

Hello stargazers! This summer visit Ingram Planetarium for a full dome star show, evening laser light music show, the Paul Dennis Science Hall, and an out of this world gift shop. We offer educational dome shows on the hour starting at 11:00 am Mondays through Saturdays. Each show is different, so be sure to check our website or call for details.

Admission to the Paul Dennis Science Hall is free during business hours (10:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Saturday). Here you can learn about how light travels, discover space exploration from the Wright Brothers’ First Flight all the way to the first steps on the moon, and even dive into the exciting world of nano technology. It is recommended to get to the Planetarium about 15 minutes before the hour, so the Science Hall is perfect to keep little hands busy while you wait.

It’s important to note that the dome shows and laser shows are two separate programs that are offered different days of the week. Offered Monday through Saturday, our educational dome shows are all family friendly and include a live star show so you can learn what’s in the local sky tonight. Meanwhile, our laser light shows are accompanied by classic musical hits on the best sound system in the area! Laser shows are offered in the evenings on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The Planetarium is located only a few miles from The Museum of Coastal Carolina, and discounted combo tickets are available, which make a great day trip if you are visiting the area!

Ingram Planetarium is located at 7625 High Market Street in Sunset Beach, NC. Admission to the planetarium theater is free for members. Non-member all-day admission effective March 31, 2022 is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors (62+), $8 for children (3-12), and free for age 2 and under.
