There is no question that North Carolina has everything you want: mountains, beaches, museums, galleries, outdoor play spaces, the best hiking in the world, and Southern hospitality to boot. If you live here, you know the riches we possess. If you are planning a visit, be prepared to have your socks knocked off. Whether resident or visitor, the science and nature-based opportunities provided by North Carolina are a gem for us all, and the North Carolina Science Trail is the best method to help you get the most out of this state.
Initially funded by the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources and the NC Science Network, the NC Science Trail is a collaborative of approximately 60 science education partners (we’re calling them Trail Partners) across the state encompassing dozens of museums, nature centers, botanical gardens, wildlife experiences, the NC Aquariums, the NC Zoo, and numerous NC State Parks. These are some of the best places to explore and learn about science in North Carolina. Trust me. You do not want to miss this goodness! As we launch in April 2023, Trail Partners will be collaborating for the entire month on Science Festival events, however, the mission of the NC Science Trail is to inspire exploration of NC’s varied science landscape all year long. We are also partnering with NC’s #YearoftheTrail efforts for 2023. We aim to build awareness of science processes, cultivate appreciation for the role of science in our everyday lives, and encourage care for the natural world.
