The North Carolina Estuarium celebrates the importance of estuaries and what they mean to life here in the “soundlands.” Our over 200 exhibits and hands-on interactive displays describe our vital estuaries and coastal rivers with focuses on estuarine animals, artifacts from life on the Pamlico River, explorations of hurricane and sea level rise, and more. As a part of the Partnership for the Sounds we share their mission of celebrating the nature and culture of the Albermarle-Pamlico Peninsula with the goal of inspiring all our visitors to cherish everything that eastern North Carolina has to offer.
