Are you still hoping you can get your kid into a cool summer camp? Perhaps your summer plans changed and you’re thinking that they’re all full at this point…Our friends at PARI in the Pisgah National Forest have some great news for you! Read below about one of the coolest summer camps around.

A week in the mountains learning about space?? Yes please!

PARI STEM and Space Exploration Camps

Summer camps are in full swing at the Pisgah Astronomical Research, and there’s still room to register and sponsorships are still available to those who qualify!

Last week’s camp (3D Planets) brought young scientists from all areas to learn how to access and use data collected by spacecraft about the surface of other planets and moons.  Campers learned how to find and identify geographical and geological features and find evidence of what formed them and how old they are.

Campers use hands-on models, computer software, 3D printers, and real NASA-provided data to conduct their research and produce models from their chosen planet.

Our large radio telescopes were also used to demonstrate how the data that spacecraft and satellites collect is transmitted to Earth can be used. From the classroom to camp fires our young scientists reached for the stars, friendships were formed, and fun was had by all.

There is still time to register for the camps listed below.
