All Aboard the Steam Over Spencer: A Live Steam Model Train Event at the N.C. Transportation Museum

SPENCER, N.C. — All aboard! Join us for the Steam Over Spencer: A Live Steam Model Train Event on March 5 – 7 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Come experience several large operating model train displays featuring scale model locomotives that are powered by live steam! The N.C. Transportation Museum is part of the Division of State Historic Sites within the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

A large variety of locomotives and railroad cars will be featured during this event. These locomotives produce their own power from a variety of fuel sources rather than being powered by an electric current through the track, making them different from conventional electric trains. Owners of these fascinating models are expected to come from across the country to share their detailed collections with other hobbyists and museum visitors.

The cost to attend the event is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors age 65+ and active military with ID, and $8 for children ages 3-12.  Museum members and children under the age of three are free.  The N.C. Transportation Museum’s regular exhibits will be open during the event and are included in admission.  Train rides aboard the museum’s train are also available for an additional price on Saturday and Sunday.

Kids and adults alike will enjoy watching these model trains in action while checking out the Museum That Moves You!  The museum features a collection of trains, planes, automobiles, and trucks located in several historic buildings and on the 60-acre grounds.

For more information on this event and to purchase advance tickets, go to www.nctransportationmuseum.org/steam-over-spencer/.  The event will be held rain or shine. N.C. Sales Tax applies and will appear on the order during the ticketing purchase process.
