Elk Knob State Park: Wild About Wildflowers

April 18, 2026
2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
5564 Meat Camp Road Todd North Carolina, 28684

April is the time of year when many of the wildflowers begin to bloom at Elk Knob State Park! Enjoy an NCSciFest event at Elk Knob by hiking with a Park Ranger on the Summit Trail to survey wildflowers. We will be using a couple of identification methods such as an ID guide and an app called iNaturalist. All observations will be photographed and uploaded to iNaturalist and NC State Park’s Natural Resource Inventory Database.

No survey and identification experience required to participate in this program! The Summit Trail is 1.9 miles one way and is moderate to strenuous. We will be meeting in the Summit Trail parking lot to begin. Dress appropriately to hike and bring water.
