The mission of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is to illuminate the natural world and inspire its conservation. The Whiteville Branch of the Museum is located in downtown Whiteville, NC, and serves the southeastern region of NC through onsite programming, outreach, exhibits, and unique outdoor and indoor learning environments. It strives to meet its mission through education programs, activities, exhibits, and events. The Museum is free-of-charge and open Tuesday through Saturday year-round. Indoor facilities include hands-on science lab activities, a gift shop, a children’s learning through play area, and natural specimens and exhibits. Outside facilities include the Nature PlaySpace, a Tree Trail, an outdoor picnic area, fossil pit, and butterfly murals that are a part of the Whiteville Butterfly Trail. We also offer regular and special programming throughout the year. Please see our Facebook page for the most up-to-date events.
