Most of you have seen that the IAU (International Astronomy Union) is hosting a global event celebrating the 100th anniversary of the planetarium, taking place from October 2–5, 2025. Our very own Ken Brandt from Robeson Planetarium is a special node for this special event.

What does that mean? It means that Ken is your North Carolina contact for all information relating to this incredible public outreach opportunity. Questions? Please email Ken at: kenneth.brandt@robeson.k12.nc.us

The IAU event will feature 100 hours of worldwide astronomy events, including planetarium shows, public stargazing sessions, workshops, talks, and hands-on activities to connect people with the cosmos. You can find more information and register your own event on the IAU/OAO website.

*If you’re already hosting an astronomy-related event for that weekend (Oct 2-5), your current event most likely qualifies to be registered as an IAU 100 Hours event as well. For example, events for International Observe the Moon Night (Oct 4) and World Space Week are great ways to connect with the IAU’s 100 Hours of Astronomy Global Event. Again, for questions, contact Ken.

Okay, so you’ve decided to host and event and you need some good resources…we’ve got you covered.
