Calling All Women in Science!
The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher (NCAFF) is hosting the 2023 Femme in Stem Saturday, Sept. 16, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate the paramount role of women scientists and to inspire a new generation of girls to follow in their footsteps.

Femme in Stem continues to be a favorite for both exhibitors and visitors. In 2022, sixteen organizations participated with 70 individual exhibitors engaging with 2,100 visitors at the Aquarium. Many attendees made special plans to visit the Aquarium for the event.
“It is important for young girls to see someone like themselves in STEM fields. Research shows that starting around middle school, girls start losing interest in science and other STEM subjects. Our visitors interact with people working in the variety of STEM fields that are open for career paths,” said Gail Lemiec, unique experiences coordinator, NCAFF.

Women scientists are encouraged to submit their application to share their time and expertise as an exhibitor, while also keeping it green.
